1. KEY CONCEPT OF COURSE: 

Students enrolled in the math intervention program will develop mathematical skills needed to be successful in their Algebra 1 class. Students will be asked to show competency in applying arithmetic skills, mathematical vocabulary, they will need to master organizational skills and show an ability to be precise while paying attention to the small details of mathematical exploration and comprehension. 

1. GENERAL PLAN FOR COURSE: 

The curriculum for math intervention will preview key concepts of algebra 1 as students’ progress through their algebra 1 course. 

C.  TEXTBOOK AND SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTS TO BE USED:

Algebra 1 Practice Workbook, Kuta software, Khan Academy 

D. COURSE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Daily attendance 
• Completion of class work
• Passing signature test 
• Ask for help when needed from study team or the teacher!!!
• Be willing to provide help to other students when asked
• Support the teacher in their endeavor to create a learning environment 
• GRADE IS BASED UPON CLASSWORK AND QUIZZES/TESTS; 50% FOR CLASSWORK AND 50% QUIZZES/TEST

E.  TEACHER AVAILABILITY: 

The teacher will make appointments to meet with students and parents before school, after school. Parents/guardians should arrange appointments through email Ms. Erickson serickson@gusd.net and Mr. Woods Gwoords@gusd.net or by phone 818 242-3161

F. ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS: 

Whenever possible, teacher should be informed of an absence ahead of time. 

Excused absences:  

Daily Work:  Missing class work must be submitted within the same number of days as the absence.

Signature Test: If a student knows that he/she will be absent ahead of time, he/she is responsible for scheduling a test make-up before the test is administered to the rest of the class.  If an absence is unforeseen, the student is expected to call or email his/her teacher on the morning of the absence.

School-Related Absences:

Students must prepare ahead of time for school-related absences such as field trips, sporting events or assemblies and should make arrangements with the teacher to submit assignments on the day that they are due.

Unexcused absences/Truancies:  As per school policy, late work will not be accepted if the absence is unexcused.  If a student misses a Mastery Exam due to an unexcused absence, he/she will receive 0 points.
